Loisal99′s travel blog entry: “Food in China is…….unique. Ok, they have some super crazy food here. There are many different types of restaurants in China. Any kind of food you want you can get. Western style restaurants like Pizza Hut, TGI Fridays, KFC, etc. Japanese food, Thai food, German food (lot’s of German expats here), and of course every few feet (literally) you will find a different type of Chinese eating establishment. Prices vary depending on where you eat. If you eat at a Western style restaurant, or Japanese restaurant, the prices will be very comparable to what you would pay in Canada. But if you eat at a Chinese restaurant the food is incredibly cheap. Our favourite restaurant is a Vegetarian restaurant in the City Centre. We eat there once or twice a week. We will order 6 to 8 dishes of various rices, potatoes, tofu, and vegetables. This includes a Hotpot. Hotpot is very popular in China. Basically your table has a small stovetop burner on it with a pot. When the water, or broth, is boiling you add the various vegetables, tofu, and whatever else (meat) into the pot, cook it up and take it out when it’s ready to eat. This meal usually comes to about 80-90RMB which is about CAN. We walk out of there feeling stuffed to the gills. We haven’t really eaten much meat since we have come …
