Okinawa was the first land mass that I got to see. It was strange to see land after 12 days at sea. First I saw some finishing boats, then an airplane, oil tankers, then Okinawa Island. It was here where Kill Bill (the movie) was reference to. Being at sea was not so bad, the ocean is beautiful and we were lucky to get sunny days, but the temperature drastically changed as we got closer to asia, hot and humid! I arrived Keelung Tawain on July 5, 2006. There is a tradition on the ship that people should sleep the night before reaching port to see the sunrise over the country we are arriving at. I pass on that tradition, its hard to get up so early, but I will be getting up early for a few countries like Vietnam and China. I hear I can’t pass on that experience. Taiwan looks like a big tea leaf if you look at a map. The country is bigger than I thought and I did end up getting the most of my days going somewhere interesting. Last minute planning paid off just right. We arrived in Keelung, which is a port city and its ok. Everything around the ship was accessible, such as foreign currency exchange, bus stations, train stations, restaurants, night markets, even free internet. Day one was …
