I keep telling my sons that ‘one day you will appreciate this’. If we pass a school they get mobbed by girls wanting to talk to them and take their photos…or get their pictures taken with them. Children of mixed race really stand out. They’ve been asked to be models in advertisements and clothing store commercials. Unfortunately our trips are short and we could not stay for the filming. When we took our kids to the swimming pool on our last trip they were tailed by 3 girls, when my boys would go under water the girls would poke their heads underwater to watch them swim, then when he would surface, all the girls would come up and say “how qua-ya” (how cute), this went on and on for the hour and a half we were at the pool. I though for sure they would tire of it eventually but they continued to tail Liam and Austin around until we left. It’s a big annoyance to my boys now but I am sure when they get older they will feel very lucky : ) Austin is too young and wanted no part of this.
