The group included Carly, Sam and Susan, all of whom work at the school with me and are also my roommates. We are practically together 24-7. Then there was also Nicholas, who has been living in Taiwan already for a year and a half and has a good grasp on the country and the Chinese language. He suggested the camping idea. The Carrefour Experience: Sam has a scooter and Nic has a motorcycle, so Susan and I rode along with them to Carrefour to buy camping gear. Carrefour is an experience in itself. I’d never heard of it before, but when reading about it I found that it is the largest hypermarket chain in the world, in terms of size, and is the third largest in terms of profit, right behind Wal-Mart. Carrefour is mostly located in China, Argentina and some parts of Europe, but is kinda all over the place. In Carrefour Susan and I had a great time laughing at overly dramatic soap operas that were playing, and we were all distracted for quite a while with everything until we found the camping gear. We bought one four-person tent, sleeping bags and sleeping mats. Nic already had all his own gear.
