It was the easiest border crossing yet, no scams no touts just a few checkpoints. The border is still under construction but the buildings are really modern but there was no one there as it is not a very popular crossing so was nice and quick. We got a huge meal with our bus ticket so had our first taste of Vietnamese food was a good one, lots of spare ribs, small fish we ate whole, soups and things. The bus dropped us at Pleiku at a random bus agency, all the staff were really friendly they didn’t speak any English, they all flocked around us trying to make sense of what we were after. It was so funny and eventually they got the idea we wanted to go to Ho Chi Minh City so sent us to the bus station in a taxi. We had to wait for about 4 hours for the over night us to Saigon so we had some more Vietnamese food and waited around. The locals were very curious of us and we got chatting to a local guy who was so nice and even bought us a couple of beers! First impressions of Vietnam were really friendly people and great food. We got to Saigon at 5am after a ten hour bus ride, it was a really comfy sleeper bus so we both managed to get some sleep. We had our first Vietnamese coffee whilst waiting for the sun to come up.
