The Chinese regime has banned independent reporting on the latest melamine toxic milk scandal. The Guandong Province Propaganda Department issued an order stating, all media are only allowed to use information formally released by authorities. General Secretary of The International Federation of Journalists, Aidan White, says this latest media ban in China raises further concerns about prioritizing censorship over the wellbeing of citizens. In 2008, six children died and more than 300000 fell ill from consuming melamine-contaminated milk products, according to state-run media. Adding melamine to milk products makes the protein content appear higher. When ingested by humans, it can cause kidney failure and other serious health problems. In this most recent melamine scandal, tainted products have been produced by companies across China, including Shanghai, Guizhou and Liaoning Province in the northeast. NTDTV’s official YouTube Channel got taken down for some weird reason, so I thought it would be a good time to upload some of their noteworthy videos again and it’s also to remind you guys that you can actually still find ALL their programming on their website: english.ntdtv.com – So just cause Youtube is probably bowing to China again doesn’t mean they are gone – go visit their website, they don’t only have news on human rights in China, but have 24 hour programming with live streaming.

CHAN: Today’s top story… An update on the Sanlu powdered milk scandal in China. Today a Mainland court sentenced two men to death for their role in the production and sale of melamine-tainted milk. One of the men was a manufacturer who sold more than 600 tons of toxic melamine powder. The other was a middleman who added the powder to watered-down milk at collection stations. The former head of Sanlu Group got life in prison and a fine. Many Chinese wanted the head to face the ultimate punishment. Claims of official concealment and indifference have turned the milk powder case into a serious political issue for the Chinese Communist Party. Tainted milk killed at least six children and made nearly 300000 ill.
