It was a busy weekend and I am now caught up on my sleep. It was a pretty exciting week last week, well actually only Thursday was exciting. 
I was able to experience my first earthquake. While I was teaching on Thursday around 5:30 Taiwan had a large earthquake, 6.0. This was the largest one in 10 years. The epicenter was just 35 miles south of Taichung. It was really strange because I noticed the look on my students’ faces before I even felt the earthquake. After I saw their looks of terror I noticed that the pumpkins I had hanging from my ceiling were shaking and things in the room shook and rattled a little bit. I was only up on the 3rd floor but I could feel the building moving. After it registered that it was an earthquake I had the kids get under their desk. The kids were pretty good through it all. They screamed a little after I told them to get under their desks but truly that is to be expected since we don’t really have earthquake drills. They don’t have time to practice. Afterward it provided a good learning experience to talk about them needing to stay quiet. The students settled down and we continued class.
