A little unclear about what the main attraction was for the visit, it become evident the moment we turned the corner to see the Ananda Samakrom Throne Hall splayed out before us. It stood alone on a giant plot of verdant landscaping and arching pathways. The structure itself taking cues from ancient roman palisades with columns embedded at every angle and domes that pierced the sky. We entered through the vaulted double doors and bought three tickets to the exhibition. My usual street attire of tank top and shorts not appropriate for the setting, I had to purchase a sarong to wear around my waist and drape across my shoulders. Best four dollars I’ve spent so far. Proceeding through to the welcoming chamber, we had no idea what was in store for us on the inside. An enormous domed great room adorned with gilded ornaments, pillars of pristine marble, and intricately painted mosaics in the style of the Sistine Chapel, each telling their own story and conveying thousands of years of history and culture in the stroke of a brush.
