I opted for the easy route….after all I have job waiting for me back in Taiwan! The problem with the tourist bus is that makes lame tourist stops! I ended up getting roped into paying extra for a hill tribe show. I ponied up the doe and went to watch the cheese. It turned out to be mildly interesting because the show was put on by China’s ethnic minorities. The Zhuang and the Yao nationalities live here, though mainly it is the Zhuang people. The woman don’t cut their hair and wear it wrapped around their head like a turban. Although the show was completely tacky at least I was able to see how the women wear their hair in various way to signify, single, married or married with children. The little presentation also showed how they would engage in courtship. If they fancy you they pinch your booty…. so as all the tourist left the show the village women would stand on each side singing acapella and pinching everyones butt. A life time of manual labor tends to give one strength and these women took chucks out of my ass! After I got to the village, I got myself some cooked rice in a bamboo stick and set out on the trail.
