I’ll start with the dislikes first as there really aren’t that many, and most of them you can’t really blame Taiwan for. Dislikes: 1. The hot and humid weather – which you can’t really blame them for being located in a tropical region of the world. 2. Lack of originality in street naming, eg Song De Road, Song Shan Road, Song Shou Road, Song Yong Road, Song Ren Road. Geez, find something else other than Zhong, Song and Min Taipei! 3. There is perhaps too much service, which is not always such a good thing, like when I’m trying to buy clothes, everytime a service person comes I scurry away. I do that in Australia too, but they mostly leave you alone there. OK so now on the likes, in no particular order: 1. Friendly and helpful citizens – if there are bad people, I haven’t met them yet, thank god! 2. Convenient and efficient public transportation – you cant travel this well in Australia, no way. 3. Cheap foods – oh so cheap. 4. Relatively good English signs and spoken English throughout compared to other Asian countries. The education system must be doing something right here. 5.
