The journey took almost 50 minutes to the park from the hotel. The weather was extremely cold today, I think it must have been somewhere around 2 degrees Celsius. Once we arrived at the park, the tour guide had gone to get the tickets, which I believe was around CNY 2 per pax. With that, we started walking around the park and the guide explained the significance of every building, hill and tree as we walked through. The last emperor of the Ming Dynasty, Chongzhen, committed suicide by hanging himself here on a tree in 1644 as well. Below is a short brief on the history of the park. Jingshan Park, a beautiful royal landscape garden, is situated in the centre of Beijing City. Covering an area of 230000 square meters (about 57 acres), the park stands on the central point of the north – south axis of Beijing City and faces the North Gate of Forbidden City. Jingshan Park is found on Jingshan Hill, which was originally named Wansui Hill (Long Live Hill). The mid summit of Jingshan is the highest point in Beijing City and this is a man made hill, particularly instructed by the Emperor during the construction of the Forbidden City for him to observe the developments of the city from the hill …
