Boorstin Nanning – In transit After being reacquainted with Chinese sleeper class trains and getting a lesson in cribbage from Cal we arrived in Nanning at 4:30 in the morning. Not much to do at that hour of the day so thankfully we didn’t have much difficulty getting accommodation right near the train station to resume the night’s sleep we had attempted to get on the train. You have to love the comfortable €5 a night rooms we’ve been getting recently. Certainly helps with the budget, especially when there are two of you splitting the cost. Nanning is a big enough city but there is not really much to see. Actually, there is nothing of interest to see; most people do nothing more than pass through on route to the Chinese/Vietnamese boarder about 180km west of here. We, however, had intentions of heading west to visit the three tier Detian waterfalls which straddle the boarder. Cal had seen them on some travel show back in Canada some years back, had waxed on about them ever since Korea and so was on a mission to get up close and personal. Sounds good to me…. lead the way.
