Got off to a great start by watching the sun come up from the bus window as we drove up a windy road through the clouds, though I was so tired from spending all night awake due to a cacophony of noisy snorers around me, I probably would have thought some stinking ghetto fields were unique and amazing. Met an American named Greg who had been teaching English in San Cristobal for a few months, but was living in a hostel for the social element. He took me on a guided tour of the town, which felt like a strange place to be after so long on the coast, and the level of activity was a little too much for me. Much to his amusement I needed constant siestas and coffee breaks (a major plus: I was in coffee country now. Finally a cup of coffee that didn´t taste like watery pigs mud, or at very best what I imagine the slops bucket at Merlos tastes like). Man it was so freaking cold! I needed to buy a scarf and one of those ridiculous indigenous hats with the ear flaps just so I could get from the dorm to the bathroom in the morning.
