A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Kenting, Taiwan by TravelPod blogger Hullick titled “I ‘Heart’ Kenting” Hullick’s travel blog entry: “With a job secured, there was nothing to do but go to the Taiwan beaches! Friday afternoon I had to go to hospital to get a check up, which is necessary when applying for an ARC (working visa). But once that was done I packed a small bag and headed for the train station. Kenting located in southern Taiwan is the place to be on the weekends…so thats where I went. Took the HSR (high speed rail) to Kaohsiung – end of the line-then got a bus to Kenting from there. Once I arrived in Kaohsiung tho it was 8pm so i didn’t know if there would be anymore buses going that night, but I figured I could spend the night in Kaohsiung if that happened, then continue to Kenting on Sat morning. But I was in luck and there was buses still going that night! I met a Taiwanese guy named Jerry who was meeting his friends in Kenting. He spoke pretty good English so we visited on the bus. He couldn’t believe that I was alone and didn’t have a room booked for the night.. I was just gonna find one when i got there! Internet connections had been too expensive during the past few days for us to book ahead, so we had an address and not much else. After carrying our packs halfway around the city and checking on overpriced hotels, we settled on a tiny Pensione located in the Northwest corner of the center of town. Having unloaded our packs and come up with a plan for the rest of Italy, we headed back out in search of an internet cafe from which to plot our future misadventures. We found one all the way across town and spend a good chunk of the night there before heading back to turn in. The following day, we managed to get a better sense of Bologna. We visited an abandoned park with an anemic fountain near the rail station, then headed south and stumbled across a giant market! Hooray! We picked up flag patches for a few of the countries which we had already visited–including Italy. The price was so good that we didn’t even haggle, unheard of for us! We wandered around the market for a while longer before continuing on to our next destination: Lunch! We lunched in a small Trattoria in a back alley. I don’t know whether the pasta was really hand-made, but it tasted …
