A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Hong kong, Hong Kong by TravelPod blogger Homhead titled “Hong Kong” Homhead’s travel blog entry: “We checked into the Kowloon Hotel which is basically a business class hotel. However, it is clean, centrally located and they have a good buffet breakfast every morning with foods ranging from traditional Asian to European and Western. We are in breakfast paradise. The view from our room was not too exciting. Nov 30 We signed up for a half day City Tour: Victoria Peak had some nice views. We also visited Stanley Market, Repulse Bay, Aberdeen. We rode a Sampan and saw a lot of fish hanging and being dried on other Sampans. We ended the tour by stopping at a jewelry factory (the required stop that all these tour companies claim to keep their prices down). We ate dim sum at Golden Jade restaurant and had absolutely no idea what we were ordering. We basically had to point at pictures of things that looked familiar. Next time we’ll bring some type of food translation guide. We went to the Temple Street night market and then walked around the Peninsula Harbor. Dec 1 We took the Star ferry to HK Island and did a walking tour. We went to the Hang Seng bank building and also went to the 43rd floor of the IM Pei Bank of China building. Went to the central and western districts to see local life. Walking through the performance area, we saw an advertisement. We were sad to find out we had missed the Cantonese version of West Side …
A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Beijing, China by TravelPod blogger Jacobvd90 titled “Beijing Olympic venues and the Great Wall” Jacobvd90′s travel blog entry: “hey gang I’m back Wow, what a day. Like yesterday, the breakfast at the hotel was AMAZING!! I’m gonna miss this hotel but hopefully the one in Xi’an will be better! We left around 8am to head to the Olympic venues in downtown Beijing and it was such a cool sight to see. I was able to walk around the Birds Nest stadium where they had all the main performances and opening ceremony. It was HUGE but very cold inside. We were able to take pictures and walk around. Then we had the chance for 80 yuan to go on the floor of the stadium and play around in the snow. That was a lot of fun and it’s not often you get the chance to set foot on such a spectacular stadium that hosted such a prestiges event. We were there till about noon and we left to go to the jade factory. We were able to see how jade is made and the long process of carving it and turning it into jewelry and other jade products. I was about to get a pair of ear rings, a bracelet and a necklace for under 0 and they’re real jade too! At the end of that we went to lunch at a restaurant near the Great Wall. It was very delicious but they poured us some weird liquor …
