[PINYIN + ENG] Leehom – In the Depths of the Bamboo Forest (竹林深處)
Here is a translation and sing along pinyin version of Leehom’s well-known “In the Depths of the Bamboo Forest” aka “Zhu Lin Shen Chu” in Mandarin, a promotional single recorded in his 2004 album, Shangri-La. This song is part of Leehom’s first chapter of chinked-out, which incorporates tribal Chinese music into modern hip hop melodies. It’s not an easy task to translate these lyrics to English while trying to make the English actually make sense, lol. The lyrics are poetic, and considering that English and Chinese are completely two different languages (with COMPLETELY different grammar, lol), there may be some mistranslation… but eh, I hope it will do. O_O I love these lyrics btw ^^… they’re catchy in rhythm and also very.. eh, artsy? lmao (Oh, and in case people are wondering, although I translated “zhu lin” as “bamboo grove” in the video, a more accurate translation for it should be “bamboo forest”… I apologize if there was any confusion) (c) Sony Music Taiwan
