Mandarin Course

John 1 約翰福音 1

Verse 1: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. [John 1:1-2] Verse 2: The Word became flesh, and dwelt among us. Full of grace and truth, he made revelation. [John 1:16,14,18] I never imagined that the first song I would ever write would be in another language. I am not Chinese and I do not speak Mandarin. Somehow, I found a website that had the Bible in different languages, with audio too. With the aid of an online Chinese dictionary, I started comparing the Chinese meaning to the English and Greek out of curiosity. As I closed my eyes and began repeating the Chinese words to myself, I just happened to have my guitar nearby, and picked it up and began playing. This song came to me in just a few minutes; this was about 5 years ago. It’s all God because I don’t know Mandarin and I have no formal music education. I shared it with a few Chinese friends back then and am uploading it now.
