
Trip to Ciyou Matsu Temple (???) and Raohe Street Night Market (??????????) in Taipei City (???), Taiwan (??, ??) on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011. The Raohe Street Night Market is Taiwan’s first night market and is located near the Sungshan (Songshan, ???) Train Station. The market has been a thriving place of business since the mid-18th century and is located at Raohe St. and Sec. 4, Bade Rd and Fuyuan St. Web site: www.raohe.com.tw Ciyou temple was built in the mid-18th century and is dedicated to the deity Black Faced Mazu. Construction started in 1753 and was completed in 1757. According to legends, the temple was founded by a wandering monk who came upon a group on Matsu followers. Together they raised money for 10 years and then built their temple. The temple is located at No. 761, Sec. 4, Bade Rd., Songshan District, Taipei City. Public transportation to both locations: THSR (Taiwan High Speed Railway): Take the THSR to Taipei Main Station, transfer to the MRT or bus. MRT: Take MRT to Taipei City Hall Station, then take bus no. 28, 32, 46, 51, 54, 203, 205, 286 or 311 to Songshan Station. Train: Take train to Songshan Station.
