I have my breakfast in a sandwhich breakfast shop near the hostel and the bus station ( all close by ). I had asked the same slow thinking man at the hostel reception if they would have breakfast and he had said ” no “. Days later I shall learn from a lady at the reception that they serve breakfast for 60 NT, not inluded in the room price – yes, that’s an answer I can live with. I take the bus to the southern most tip with the village Fonggan. The roads are really well developed, wide, two lanes in each direction and through basically boring grey and brown countryside. At the end station I walk a bit around the coast, out to an old Japanes fort and then to some special stone formations which make a whistling sound when the high tide pushes the water into the cracks – now is low tide, so no whistling , will have to whistle myself. Some young men on a platform want to sell me some seaweed, but I decline as it is a pretty hot day, with luckily some breeze and I do not risk to spend the next days in a small quiet room.
