Then our first trek of about 1.5 hours UP a mountain – luckily with only our daypacks. This is the famous Longji Terraces, just stunning. Made our overnight hostel, basic wooden hotel but the views just wonderful, I really must get the photos on. We had an early night ready for the long trek the next day. 18/10 9.30am start on our 6 hour trek, we trekked up and down so many bloody mountains, I thought it would never end and I would never make it!!!!. Apart from the agony of going UP with my sad lungs and down with my broken toe (broke just over 2 weeks ago on the train) so not a great experience, but so very worth it as we trekked through the rice terraces – what a fantastic way to see China, then onto another hostel, similar to the first one. Dinner and a live show by the local women, we all joined in the dance and they asked us to sing to them, and we sang Happy Birthday and Twinkle Twinkle little star … how sad are we!!!! During the trek we stopped for lunch at a homestead, and the women gave us a show of how they do their hair. They only cut it 3 times in their lives, once for their parents, once for their husbands and once for their children, so their hair is floor length. The cut hair is kept and daily they …
