I mean we arrived in Vietnam without really thinking much about the place as we thought we’ve done a few Asian capitals and big cities so can this one really be any different/much busier? Well, it can be and it is. Its mad…. bloody crazy…. but one of the best places we’ve visited so far. (I know that we say that about everywhere but its definitely up there in the top cities to visit). The flight in from Vientiane was fine. A nice little Vietnamese jet and we were in Hanoi in less than an hour. The weather wasn’t the best to be in a wee plane but there were only a couple of times when the plane hit a spot of turbulance and the whole passenger list went “oooh”. Nearly dropped my spam roll (we eat anything that is given to us now) but got through without the need for alcohol….. not that they actually offered anything mind. We had a few tens of thousand Kip (!!) to burn at Laos airport but thought we would use it in the duty free. Bless us for being so naive. There was a duty free but its where other duty free shops send all the stuff they can’t shift. So we have enough mini Snickers bars to keep us going for a week or so. So Hanoi.
