A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Huangshan, China by TravelPod blogger Lraleigh titled “A Different Kind of Enlightenment” Lraleigh’s travel blog entry: “The landscape of the Yellow Mountains have been a part of my imagination for many years. My imagination stems from watercolor paintings of the Yellow Mountains draped in clouds and movie fight scenes on the tops of bamboo forests swaying in the breeze. I never knew where these places were–they seemed too mystical to be real–until I asked in a Beijing art gallery. “Anhui,” was the answer. So to Anhui I went. I left the hostel early in the morning and began two days which can only be described as “reaching the emotional extremes.” Throughout the journey I attempted to allow these emotions to flow over me, although several times I got caught up in them. Here is the paradox… For centuries, the Yellow Mountains have been the place where painters painted, meditators meditated, and people came to seek solace. Informational signs within the park boundaries extol the peace, quiet, and harmony of the mountains. Names such as Lotus Flower Peak, Emerald Valley, Flower Mirror Pool, Welcoming Pine, and West Sea Canyon conjure images of beauty and peace. Now, in the peak of summer, tourists clog the mountains. A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Yangshou, China by TravelPod blogger Sarahbooth titled “Yangshou home of the limestone Karst formations” Sarahbooth’s travel blog entry: “Wednesday the 2nd of August 2006. It’s all very flat land but with sudden juts of limestone sticking out of it. There are’t any rolling hills just the dramatic sudden change. As soon as the plane landed in Gulin we could see it. We had a 2 hour drive to Yangshuo. We are staying here as it’s the centre of the landscape. Chinese tourists for years have been taking boat rides up the river Li through it all. Having a quick stop here and heading back without staying. Yangshuo is a hang out for tourists with a central street even called West Street. We had a quick look around town and had dinner all together at last a good vegetarian meal. Thursday the 3rd of August 2006 Bike ride Jenny’s birthday so we gave her the painting she had admired on the boat, that the group got for her. After breakfast of pancakes we all met to go out on bikes. Bob lead the way through the outstanding scenery. It was raining a little but that didn’t't matter as it was so warm. We stopped to take many photos of the water logged fields. People at work. Some wanted money for being in photos but not all. But as Bob said it was better to pay …
